Board of Directors

Governed by a five-member board of committed community-minded, volunteer individuals, the Fitzgerald and Ben Hill County Development Authority has three seats established by the legislation and two appointed seats. The three seats established by the legislature are filled by the Mayor of Fitzgerald, the chairman of the Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners and the chairman of the board of the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce. The Fitzgerald City Council and the Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners each appoint one member to the board.

Ron Paulk, Chairman

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Served for 38 years in the Georgia National Guard and earned the rank of Brigadier General
  • Graduate of the Army War College
  • Invented Peanut Inverter and Coupling for irrigation, for which he received U. S. Patents.
  • Established and owned Paulk Engineering Enterprise that manufactured farm equipment, Melnor Manufacturing that became Georgia Displays, a Custom Computer Programming Service company, and a Building and Residential Rental Company.
  • Organized and coordinated with other investors to establish the Bank of Fitzgerald, which is now Colony Bankcorp, Inc., named a top 100 company in Georgia in 2014, by Georgia Trend Magazine
  • Chairman of the Administrative Board for Central United Methodist Church
  • Former two term Ben Hill County School Board member

Mayor Mark Massee

  • Bachelor of Science, Industrial Management, Georgia Institute of Technology
  • Born and raised in Fitzgerald, Georgia
  • Two terms as a Fitzgerald City Council Member
  • Served 3 years as Mayor of Fitzgerald
  • Has been the President, Owner, and Project Manager with Massee Builders, Inc., a highly successful building construction firm located in Fitzgerald.
